Join us for a 5-seasons anniversary celebration with all your favourite Canadian reptiles at Scales Nature Park, July 12th from 10am to 5pm! Scales Nature Park is an education and conservation facility focused on Canadian reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Our nature centre features the largest live collection of Canadian reptiles and amphibians, providing unparalleled opportunities for learning about these creatures. There will be tours, plenty of interactive touch-time with the animals, reptile displays, kids' crafts, guided tours, walks in the woods, photography and art show, a huge silent auction, special musical guest Tori Hathaway, free lunch, author Marissa Stapley signing copies of her new book “Mating for Life” between 12pm and 2 pm and much more. At that time, we will also be introducing the Georgian Bay Turtle Hospital, a new initiative happening on the grounds of Scales Nature Park. As well, there is the START Muskoka Turtle Project, in partnership with the Canadian Wildlife Federation and the Roger’s Foundation. We cannot wait to share all our news with all of you! Admission is $9.00 for adults, students (14+) $7.50, Child (4-13) $6.00, children under 3 get in free or choose a family pass for $24 (2 adults + 2 children) - that's 25% off! Proceeds will go to the Georgian Bay Turtle Hospital. Come out for a great time, and support a fantastic cause in your community! Check out Scales Nature Park or the Georgian Bay Turtle Hospital websites or Facebook pages for all the details. To adopt a turtle, go to the Canadian Wildlife Federation website. Our goal Saturday is to raise $10,000 for the Turtle Hospital; for the year-long fundraiser, we hope to raise $150,000 so the Turtle Hospital can be open and operational by next spring's nesting season 2015.
