Landmark Muskoka Business Changes Hands
After nearly twenty years of successful growth, Soapstones Soap & Skincare, Inc., will be changing hands effective September 30, 2016. Throughout its Muskoka history, Soapstones has grown tremendously, and become a part of the landscape, due as much to the incredible natural skincare products it manufactures as to the commitment the owners, Darla and Tom Stipanovich have always shown towards the community. Whether fundraising for various events, charities, and causes or providing product to those in need, the owners have always maintained an active civic-mindedness, a virtue that will continue to benefit the local community as Darla and Tom move into their next phase of life.
Local residents, David and Joanne McLean of Huntsville, Ontario, have purchased the corporation and intend to build upon the solid foundation that already exists with growth coming from innovative ideas along with geographic expansion. David and Joanne pledge to keep Soapstones natural skincare products both in Muskoka, and true to the original ideals of healthy skincare.
When asked about their decision to sell the company, the Stipanoviches confirmed that selecting a buyer who had a vision for growth of the business along with similar social values was critical. “We knew from our initial meeting that David and Joanne were the right fit. They have extensive business experience, but as importantly, are quick to share their desire to support social issues, especially those relating to youth”, said Darla. “Our youth represent our future”, Joanne explained, and developing their leadership potential is important to us. We therefore intend to direct a portion of Soapstones income to address this area of development.” David added, he is excited to realize their hopes for geographic growth. In his words, “our growth will enable us to invest more in Muskoka in terms of plant, equipment, staff and the development of future leaders.”
The business continues throughout this transformation with changeover occurring in the Fall.
