The Senior Boys Basketball Thunderbirds outpointed Nottawasaga 88-37 in the SCAA championship game on February 16, 2016 in the Orillia school gym. A solid fan base watched from the stands as co-captain Harrison Laugalys' individual point total surpassed the combined opponent tally. Nottawasaga started the game strong with timely 3 point shots but the home team settled into good defensive strategies and creative offensive drives. The half-time score was 46-30 by the half with Laugalys, co-captain Gavin Long, Will Clarke, Cam Murphy and Harold Hunter potting baskets. Additional Thunderbirds put digits on the score sheet in the second half were point guard Andrew Da, Sheldon Stone, Aydon Miller and Stewart McGlashin. Held off the offensive cause total but adding to the SCAA championship were Joe Balasundaram, Tanner Foster and Hunter Noble. The boys' playoff challenges continue on Thursday when they play the CSASC champions.
