Orillia Quilters' Guild Quilts of Valour Presentation
The quilts are distributed to active and retired injured Canadian Armed Forces personnel, recognizing them for their service and commitment to our country. Many of these men and women are suffering from PTSD. Since 2006, over 6,000 Quilts of Valour have been made by quilters across Canada. The recipients of the quilts are chosen by committees on Canadian Forces bases. There is a two year wait list to receive one of these quilts.
Jan Easton’s presentation explained the distribution process of these quilts and how receiving one of these quilts makes a huge difference to the injured Canadian Armed Forces member or veteran. Many veterans treasure their Quilt of Valour is because it is a tangible representation of the fact that people cared enough about them to spend so much time making the quilts. She also read several very touching thank you notes from recipients of quilts.
