David Cook is bringing his "
Declaration Tour" to select Canadian cities after more than 100 shows in the USA, performing at Casino Rama, Orillia, Ontario on November 16th at 8pm.
On tour since February to support his self-titled record, David Cook and his band, The Anthemic will rock the house with their high energy, rich and powerful vocals, strong musicianship, and their engaging, and up close and personal style.
Cook's band consists of guitar legend-in-the-making lead guitarist/music director Neal Tiemann; multi-talented Andy Skib on guitar/keys/primary backup vocalist, and drummer extraordinaire/back up vocalist Kyle Peek. Rounding out the quintet with tremendous bass guitar and pick flinging skills is Tulsa musician Monty Anderson currently "on loan" from Phil Marshall's band. Months on the road have allowed Cook and his band to get that all important synergy to impressive levels yet still exude the freshness and excitement of a debut tour.
From the moment he steps on the stage, Cook will charm you with his charisma, entertain you with his witty banter, and both slay you
AND seduce you with his voice. Ah, the voice! It's the real deal; no lip syncing, no autotune, no music industry tricks. Just the pure talent that is David Cook live.
Showcasing the versatility of that voice, concert goers can likely expect to hear "
Light On", "
Barbasol", and "
Come Back to Me"; all of the cd's singles released to date. Also possible contenders for the set list are the uplifting "
Heroes", the beautiful "
Lie" or "
Life on The Moon", and the high energy hidden track "
Kiss on The Neck".
Never one to disappoint, Cook likes to keep the set list interesting and has been known to add in a few songs from his pre-American Idol days including his time with Midwest Kings and his work as an unsigned "indie" solo artist. Cook might even pull out some of the many great tracks that weren't able to make it on to his solo debut. "
Were Only Honest When We’re Sleeping" and "
Souvenir" will delight and leave you wishing they'd been squeezed onto the cd.
And to keep the energy going there just might be a cover of a classic by Alice in Chains or Van Halen, or a rocked out version of classics by Cutting Crew, or Fleetwood Mac. Any one of them is a thrill to hear in Cook’s incredible voice.
Cook's song for his brother Adam, "
A Daily AntheM" is often the show closer, and like a strong relief pitcher at the bottom of the 9th inning, it gets the job done wonderfully. Full of energy and emotion and the much loved rousing sing along this closer creates an incredible vibe felt throughout the venue.
No matter what makes it to the set list, one thing that's certain is that the house
will rock and concert goers will have a blast.
And if that’s not enough incentive to buy a ticket, throw in Irish rockers,
The Script who will be opening the show and it's a night of rock at Rama that's sure to please and perhaps leave you begging for more.
Tickets available at Casino Rama or through Ticketmaster.
