Students at Orillia's alternative high school, OASIS, could be in their new Front Street home early next year.
Simcoe Country District School Board Orillia trustee Debra Edwards said the school's move from its current Central School location is "a good news story."
The new site, in the Front Street plaza that also houses Metro and Shoppers Drug Mart, will provide good exposure for the school to other potential students, she said.
A deal on an earlier potential site close to the bus station fell through. The plan to move to the Front Street plaza was first announced last month.
"We're hoping the new location will be ready for occupancy early in the new year," Edwards said.
On Wednesday night, the school board approved the sale of the Central School building to the City of Orillia for $450,000.
