Mighty Molars top field

Dr. Calvin Chu's Dentistry on West Mighty Molars house league novice squad captured top honours at the Mariposa Lightning 3 County Hockey Tournament held last weekend in Little Britain.

The Mighty Molars, representing Orillia Minor Hockey, were perfect throughout the competition, winning four straight games to claim the A championship title.

The Orillia skaters edged Clarington 6-5, Mariposa Black 4-2 and Mariposa Blue 6-4 in preliminary play before blanking Mariposa Black, one of the host teams, 5-0 in the final.

Jonathan Orprecio earned the shutout in the deciding match.

Team members and their stats from the tournament include: John Collins (1a), Matthew Lajoie (1g, 2a), Jillian Leaman (1g, 2a), David Barker (10g, 2a), Bradley Nichols (5g), Tyler Lenner (1a), Ryan Lenner (3a), Brock Thurlow (1a), Jacob Elshaw (2g), Presten Readman (1g, 2a) and Orprecio.

Team coaches included Matt Stone, Bonnie Leamen, Mike Thurlow and Ron Lenner.
