-Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles landed in Quebec yesterday as part of their cross-country tour of Canada, marking the first time the prince has visited the province in 33 years. After arriving about 20 minutes late at Montreal's Pierre Eliott Trudeau airport, the royal couple met briefly with Quebec premier Jean Charest and his wife, Michele Dionne.
The premier noted that the Prince of Wales shares a birthday with his daughter on Nov. 14 and presented him with an Inuit soapstone sculpture and a set of 11 Quebec films. The set included La Grande Seduction (Seducing Dr. Lewis in English), a story of a small town trying to recruit a doctor, which Charest said was his personal favourite.
Afterwards, Prince Charles visited the headquarters of the Cirque du Soleil where he toured the company's workshops and training facilities and watched a short presentation by acrobats before travelling to the Biodome, where a small, peaceful protest by sovereigntists awaited him.
