Truck flips into ditch

injuries minor

Wet pavement may have been a factor after a truck ended up in the ditch on Line 15 off Memorial Avenue early Sunday evening.

"The driver was coming from Memorial Avenue. I guess he started to accelerate and the vehicle started to slide," said Barrie OPP officer Kevin Colquhoun. "It slid for a little bit, lost control and spun out into the ditch."

The black Sierra GMC took out a speed limit sign before rolling onto its side in the ditch, Colquhoun said.

Two people in the vehicle walked away with minor injuries.

"It's a rear wheel drive vehicle, so because it's a pickup and it's light at the back, you have to be a little more cautious when you are accelerating," Colquhoun said at the scene.

"Maybe (he) accelerated too fast and that's why he lost control."
