Toy Drive gears up

The 15th annual Simcoe County Paramedic Toy Drive kicks off Friday.

Donations of new and unwrapped toys will be accepted at various locations throughout Simcoe County during the holiday season, including Simcoe County Paramedic Stations and a multitude of parades.

In the past 14 years, the toy drive has collected 67,000 toys, 20,000 pounds of food and approximately $126,000 in cash and gift card donations.

Toys and non-perishable food items can be left at all Simcoe County Paramedic stations, where outdoor drop boxes are now available. All donations can also be accepted at the county offices in Midhurst between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Paramedics will be taking part in a number of events in the next month, collecting items for the toy drive. They include the Santa Claus Parades on Nov. 18 (Angus, Collingwood), Nov. 19 (Orillia), Nov. 25 (Midland, Wasaga Beach), Nov. 26 (Waubaushene, Stroud), Dec. 2 (Coldwater, Penetanguishene) and Dec. 3 (Elmvale, Moonstone).

You can also find the paramedics at the Simcoe County Museum's Christmas Past and Present event, Dec. 7-8 and at a variety of supermarkets throughout the county between Dec. 19 and Dec. 16.
