LETTER: Don't sell

Re: 'Group protests hydro sale,' June 27

It is nice to see a group led by Maurice McMillan protesting the sale of Orillia Power Corporation Distribution to Hydro One.

I have talked to many Orillia taxpayers and they agree this should not happen. We have too many seniors and young couples who have low lncomes and struggle to make ends meet. Putting Orillia Power in the hands of Hydro One is appalling. Hydro One is already jacking rates. Money is nice, but it won't last forever. Once the distribution sector is gone, there is no turning back. What if Hydro One sells this to another company our rates go sky high? The taxpayers of Orliila will be crushed financially. I believe this council did not look at the big picture.

I personally don't trust the CEO of Hydro One and his association with the Liberal provincial government. I hope the outcome of this is in favour of the people because if it is sold, we are done.

Get your wallets out because Hydro One cares about no one except making money.
