Decoration Day this Sunday
A chance to honour those who fought in service of Canada takes place this Sunday.
The annual United Civic Memorial and Decoration Service, better known as Decoration Day, takes place at the St. Andrew's-St James' Cemetery in Orillia.
Every year, Decoration Day pays tribute to those men and women who served in the Canadian Armed Forces and returned home to live otherwise normal lives, but who have since died.
Each year, the day features participation from the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, along with municipal, provincial and federal politicians.
This year's service begins at 2 p.m., and organizers are hopeful for a strong turnout in honour of the country's sesquicentennial just a week later.
