LETTER: New prosperity
I happened to run into our friendly mayor in Apple Annie's this morning. He told me that our city has won a national Brownie award for rehabilitating our new rec centre site. This, to me, is just one more indication that Orillia is enjoying a new prosperity. New building is always an indication of health in the community: Costco, Hydro One, an improved new facility at the city dock, assisted living on Sundial Drive, townhouses on Penetang St., new loft development downtown to name a few. Fences have been mended and Severn and Ramara Townships are once again enjoying our wonderful library. Orillia was named by a major financial magazine as the fifth best place to invest in Canada.
Performing the duties of mayor and council is sometimes thankless and difficult. I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation and thanks to those folks at city hall. Pat a councillor or Mayor Clarke on the back. It is well deserved.
