The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently hosted the first of three development meets.

Thirty-six swimmers from Orillia competed in The Muskats Splash #1 Meet held at the Orillia YMCA.

Clubs from Bracebridge and Base Borden were also in attendance.

"We had a lot of swimmers race in their first competition, nerves didn't take over, which was positive," said novice coach Ken Elphick.

"We definitely know what areas we need to focus on before their next competition," added Elphick.

The focus of these meets is to provide first year swimmers the opportunity to race in a quick, half-day meet that isn't too overwhelming.

Swimmers in attendance included Donovan Allin, Alexander Baillie, Ava Barjak, Emma Boychoff, Rachel Carr, Jasmine Coleman, Evangeline Cooke, Grace Dilawri, Jack Dilawri, Ava-Holly Elliott, Emily Gordon, Paige Hannan, Molly Hazel, Katie Heckendorn, Anna Holton, Ava Hunter, Kait Madden, Nathan McClinchey, Owen McCool, Alicia Murphy, Peyton Nie, Davyn Oxby, Paige Paddon, Ryan Pederson, Alexandre Rainville, Mathieu Rainville, Nicolas Rainville, Grace Reed, Meghan Rogers, Nathaniel Sneyd, Peter Sneyd, Ryan Tigchelaar, Owen Wager, Ruben Wolf-Hambsch, Madison Woolhouse and Zarah Yglesias.

Up next for the Channel Cats is the Musac Elmination Showdown in Bracebridge and then another invitational hosted by Orillia at the YMCA early December.
