MARK WANZEL/SPECIAL TO POSTMEDIA NETWORK A Barrie woman has been charged in connection with a Wednesday evening crash involving a police car and another vehicle.

A Barrie woman has been charged in connection with a Wednesday evening crash involving a police car and another vehicle.

Barrie OPP say a marked cruiser was responding to an emergency, with its siren and lights on, at 6:20 p.m. northbound on Highway 11, near Oro-Medonte Township's Line 1.

OPP says the collision was caused by another vehicle not changing lanes – in this case moving to the right – in a safe manner.

While three vehicles collided, police say, no one was injured.

A 29-year-old woman was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP say when an emergency vehicle with its emergency equipment activated is travelling on a multi-lane highway, and is travelling in the same direction, the law requires a driver to safely change lanes to allow it to pass.
