Local couple celebrate new year with new baby
Orillia residents Brandy Delong and James Taylor welcomed their daughter, Maddison Nicole Taylor into the world at 11:25 a.m. on New Year’s Day. She was the first baby born in 2013 at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
After just two hours of labour, an Orillia couple was surprised to welcome the first baby of 2013 at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday.
Brandy Delong, 24, and James Taylor, 26, are the proud parents of Maddison Nicole Taylor, who weighed in at five pounds, 11 ounces.
“She’s beautiful. We’re very happy,” said Taylor.
Delong is looking forward to bringing her newborn home. The proud mother said she hopes Maddison is happy and healthy.
“We couldn’t ask for more,” Taylor added.
Maddison has an older brother who is 11 months old.
Delong said their son, Dominick, seems to know there is a new baby coming. He often kissed her stomach while she was pregnant.
“I hope he’s not going to be jealous,” said Taylor, adding the couple will work hard to ensure both little ones receive enough attention.
Barrie’s first baby of 2013 was a week-late Christmas present to his parents.
“He was due Christmas Eve,” said mother Cassandra Jackson of Avery Scott Kenneth Hauck, who arrived at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre at 2:01 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
Father Gerald Hauk says Avery’s middle names come from each of his parents’ fathers.
At 22 inches long, Avery tipped the scales at eight pounds, four ounces when born.
