Local man dies in collision
A 29-year-old man from the Orillia area lost his life in a collision Friday evening.
According to police, emergency services were called to respond to a single-vehicle fatal collision at about 8:30 p.m. on Muskoka Road 38 near the Wahta Convenience Store in Georgian Bay Township.
According to a news release, the initial investigation indicates the driver was travelling west on Muskoka Road 38. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, appeared to have lost control of the Ford Windstar and hit the gravel shoulder. The minivan struck a rock face and the driver was thrown from the vehicle.
Police said Matthew Chreptyk was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem is being conducted to determine cause of death.
Bracebridge OPP officers were assisted at the scene by members of the Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Unit.
The collision is still under investigation.
