An industrial accident in Severn Township sent a Coldwater man to hospital Wednesday.

About 500 pounds of sheet metal fell on the legs of a 26-year-old Wally's Mechanical employee at about 12:30 p.m., Severn Fire Chief Eric Dowell said.

The small workshop is located on Anderson Line.

"He has some sore legs," Dowell said. "He is pretty good, actually. He is in good spirits."

The man was taken to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The worker was in a utility shed on the property when three or four sheets of steel, which were leaning against a wall, fell on his legs.

When Severn firefighters arrived, both of the man's legs were pinned by the sheet metal.

"We used low-pressure airbags to lift the steel off of him to extricate him out of the shed," Dowell said.

The Ministry of Labour will be investigating the incident.
