Orillia man killed in Rama Road crash


A 33-year-old Orillia man died following a two-vehicle collision on Rama Road just north of Monck Road at approximately 10:20 p.m. Sunday.

A southbound vehicle driven by the 33-year-old struck a northbound vehicle, then hit a guard rail, rolled into the ditch and hit a pole. The northbound vehicle was being driven by a 62-year-old Orillia man. No passengers were in either vehicle.

Both drivers were transported to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital. The 33-year-old driver succumbed to his injuries and the 62-year-old is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Due to the seriousness of the collision, the Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit was called to the scene.

No names have been released pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is continuing.
